Botox for Migraines Round 1

Hello fellow readers! I had my first round of Botox for Chronic Migraines today. I had mixed feelings about the whole situation,  with everything you can find online when reading reviews,  it's hard not to want to "head for the hills!" I currently deal with a laundry list of conditions that affect my quality of life.  Invisible Illnesses most do not understand and others are quick to judge or critique out of fear or just.... Got diagnosed  with Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis....yes I am young....and yes I have tried this and that.  I have been dealing with Chronic migraines at the top my list, lasting 15 to 20 days! Hence why I decided to give Botox a try. The whole treatment took 20 minutes max. You walk in and meet the Dr. or Nurse (make sure they are experienced with Botox for migraines and are not cosmetic professionals...YES it makes a difference!) You will get asked questions about the frequency of your migraines,  severity, etc. Then it is time for the mai

My Introduction : Keeping up with Life

Hello everyone, my name is Maritza, and it's been a long while since I posted, but here I am again. I had originally started this blog when I was going into the world of baking, which I love, and I self taught on a lot of techniques, and well it makes me happy. Who doesn't love a fluffy cake with fluffy buttercream icing....Ok ok...back on track LOL, I have a lot of stories to tell, specifically how life gets in the way. Hence the title to this post. During the past 2 years I have returned to the workforce in corporate America, only to find that aside from the friendships that I have created, it is not all it is cracked up to be. Money and moving up the ladder may seen enticing to some, but somehow it lacks luster. Many put their family and social life aside, and power to them if that is their goal. Then again we are all different in what we want. On another note, I was recently diagnosed with Chronic Migraines, Fibromyalgia, and a number of other suprising and unwelcome condit
As we sit and look back upon 2015 I hope that you find that you accomplished all you had hoped for this year.  I for one actually did accomplish two of my goals that I set forth for myself last new year's eve, and with a lot of effort and dedication I am seeing those goals through.  What do you want from this New Year 2016? What types of goals do you have or simply just bucket list items? There is a variety of things to focus on what we want to to do but let's not let that take away from what we already have.  In this time, reflect on the positive things in your life, how you have grown and what you have learned and taught others.  Reflect on the laughter the times you cried, and those time when you just couldn't handle it and thought you would explode with anger, but thanks to the good company of friends and family were able to make it through it.  I wish everyone a Happy New Year filled with surprises and blessings! Cheers!

Happy New Year!

With a New Year come great ideas. What are your goals for this year? Would you like to try every recipe in a certain cook book? Would you like to take on making a three tier cake? I for one would like to accomplish what I have been putting off for a while. Finish my culinary degree. As a mother of two wonderful, but time consuming ( in a good way) kids, I have been actively pursuing my career. While I explored various careers, my true calling came when I was able to sign up for some cake decorating classes at my local crafts store. I have always loved baking and have become quite the "cakepop master". I will be posting pictures soon of all of the things I have created.

Introduction

Hi everyone welcome to my blog. As an introduction I am a self-taught baker, cook, pastry chef, etc, etc. Most of my knowledge comes from hands on experience or if I simply feel like learning how to cook something I go at it. I am always watching the cooking channel and my extreme desire would be to participate in either a baker's challenge or a cook off with Bobby Flay. For that I need to really master a dish!  Thank you for taking the time to read this blog and I will make things interesting. Welcome to the interesting world of The Self-Taught Chef!
