Hello fellow readers! I had my first round of Botox for Chronic Migraines today. I had mixed feelings about the whole situation, with everything you can find online when reading reviews, it's hard not to want to "head for the hills!"
I currently deal with a laundry list of conditions that affect my quality of life. Invisible Illnesses most do not understand and others are quick to judge or critique out of fear or just.... Got diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis....yes I am young....and yes I have tried this and that. I have been dealing with Chronic migraines at the top my list, lasting 15 to 20 days! Hence why I decided to give Botox a try.
The whole treatment took 20 minutes max. You walk in and meet the Dr. or Nurse (make sure they are experienced with Botox for migraines and are not cosmetic professionals...YES it makes a difference!) You will get asked questions about the frequency of your migraines, severity, etc. Then it is time for the main event!
It takes 31 shots on your forehead, eyebrow, sides and back of head, and rea. They go quick. Maybe to reduce the STING, but the facial ones hurt more for me. Ohhhh the burn!
Afterwards you are free to go. No bruising or bleeding. My worst fear is that my face will freeze or I'll end up looking like a plastic mask. Of course I Googled, what do you think? Don't we all? LOL. Regardless I am hopeful, trials showed it reduced migraines by more than half, for those of us who get them at least 15 days a month. That is something I'm willing to try. I'll wrote more as time progresses, and let you know what side effects I experienced, or reliefs for that matter. In the meantime, I'll keep on keeping on!
